Charlie graduated in 1977 from the Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire, where he was captain and MVP of the Varsity Wrestling Team, and a New England interscholastic champion in his weight class. In 1981, he graduated from Princeton University, where he was a varsity athlete and Senior Class President. He graduated, with honors, from Vermont Law School, where he was chair of the Honor Committee, in 1986.
Charlie has practiced law in New Hampshire and Vermont for nearly 30 years, and has represented thousands of clients in that time. He has tried over fifty cases to jury verdict in courts through both states, and has won before the Vermont Supreme Court and the New Hampshire Supreme Court.
Charlie has served on many boards and committees in his home town of Thetford, Vermont, including the Recreation Committee, the Budget Committee, the Board of Civil Authority and, for the past sixteen years, on the Thetford Board of School Directors. An avid runner, Charlie has run marathons from Washington, D.C. to Las Vegas, finishing in Boston Marathon-qualifying times on five different occasions. He has coached youth, middle school and high school football, soccer, baseball, softball, basketball, cross-country and track. He was voted 2015 Coach of the Year by the Vermont Indoor Track Association.
Charlie is also active in community theatre, is an accomplished pianist, and sings in his church choir.
