While you doubtless heard of many of the records that were set at the most recent 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchong, you probably were not aware of one that was set even before the opening ceremonies were underway: Organizers distributed 110,000 condoms to the 2,925 athletes (or about 37 per competitor), topping the mere 100,000 handed out at the 2010 Vancouver games and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The record for condom distribution at a summer Olympics was set at Rio, when organizers forked over some 450,000 condoms (or about 42 per athlete).

Free condom distribution began in 1988 when the organizers for the Seoul summer games handed out a mere 8,500 condoms.
