The list of institutions that are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic keeps expanding by the hour: March Madness has been cancelled, as has all collegiate spring sports, while the NBA and NHL have suspended their seasons.  The Mormons have suspended all gatherings, including worship services. Ohio and Maryland have shut down all K-12 schools.

Meanwhile, I learned today that the New Hampshire Supreme Court has issued an order suspending all jury trials in the State for at least a month. Ironically, the order was handed down while the jury that was considering my client’s case had already begun to deliberate, and the judge had them continue until they reached a verdict.

That turned out to be an unfortunate decision for my client, who was convicted.

I’m not sure I have grounds for an appeal.
