I have returned from another remarkable week at Camp Ta-Kum-Ta. The weather cooperated, the kids were energetic and beautiful, and the music was a joy. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your perspective) there are no extant videos of the opening skit in which, among other things, I joined four women in a stunning performance of Beyonce’s song “All the Single Ladies.” We were all dressed in leotards, tights and wigs. I was the ugliest woman I have ever seen.
WPTZ’s report on the first day of camp can be found here. And beginning at about the :42 mark of this video, you can see the music guy at work, first helping Rocky of Rocky’s Pizza (who donated Monday night’s meal) with a rousing rendition of “Hey Baby,” then performing “O Canada” with the Canadian staffers, and then leading the camp in our version of “We Are The World.”
Every year I leave camp exhausted and inspired. This year was no exception.
