Here’s a fun fact I came across recently: U.S. workers are, on average, allotted 12 vacation days a year, yet they typically use only 11 of them. In sharp contradistinction, French workers get 31 vacation days (and work a 35-hour week) and, on average, take 29 of them. And there are 11 public holidays.
