I’m not sure if this is a positive development, so I’ll let my gentle readers decide on their own.
An outfit called Plenty®, a vertical farming company located in Virginia, recently announced that it has just opened the world’s first large-scale indoor vertical farm for growing strawberries. using 30-foot towers to grow over four million pounds of strawberries annually, on about an acre of land. We are told that this method of growing reduces water consumption by 90%, land use by 97% and eliminates the need for pesticides altogether.
