Last week, a Carmelite nun in France known as Sister André was recovering from COVID. That’s not remarkable in and of itself.
What IS remarkable is that Sister André then celebrated her 117th birthday. Which was marked with a special meal of foie gras, baked Alaska and red wine — “one of her secrets to longevity,” according to a spokesperson at the nursing home where she resides.
After a Mass in her honor, she was treated to champagne “because 117 years have to be toasted.”
