The close of major league baseball’s regular season has left us with a head-scratching (or is it eye-popping?) statistical oddity: Oakland Athletics outfield Khris Davis ended the season with a .247 batting average.  The year before, he hit .247.  The year before that, he hit .247.  The year before THAT… he hit .247. That makes him the most consistent hitter in major league baseball history.

The Athletics have made it to the play-offs, and play the one-game “Wild Card” game against the Yankees on Wednesday.  I’m going to guess that Davis will get a hit about once every four at-bats.
