Betty Reid Soskin has been a ranger at the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park in Richmond, California for some 15 years now. There, she takes takes people on tours of the site, describing the life and travails of female workers in wartime industry in the 1940’s. Although she is not a trained historian, she has become a leading spokesperson for the diverse experiences of domestic war-effort workers.
She knows a little bit about the subject. She recently turned 100 years old. She is the oldest active ranger in the National Park Service.
