Germany — the largest economy in Europe and the fourth-largest in the world — has set a goal that 65% of its energy will be produced by renewable sources by the year 2030.

The Germans are well on their way.

According to this article at the Reuters website, renewable sources met 46.3% of Germany’s power consumption in 2020, 3.8 percentage points more than in 2019.

By contrast, renewables currently make up 26% of China’s energy portfolio, and 17% of that of the United States.
