On a day when I couldn’t find anything of interest on the interwebs to share with my gentle readers, I was reflecting on my trip last week to Amsterdam.
Amsterdam is notably a city of canals. In fact, there are, according to Mr. Google, some 165 canals in the city.
That led me to ponder: what city has the most canals in the world?
Amsterdam? Venice?
Wrong. Birmingham, UK not only has more canals than Amsterdam (over 200), it also has more miles of canals — Birmingham has over 100 miles of canals (compared to Amsterdam’s 65). Venice, meanwhile, has about 150 canals, which cover a mere 26 miles.
