Here’s some more dire news on the climate front: Weaker monsoon seasons paired with high temperatures are combining to create a water crisis in India.  According to a report by the National Institution for Transforming India (the country’s main planning agency), in just 10 years, some 40 percent of India’s population will be out of drinking water.

By the end of next year, 21 cities could run out of groundwater. Already, the city of Chennai (population: 4.5 million) is virtually out of water; millions of residents now rely on water being delivered in trucks.
