A Cincinnati man who subsided only on craft beer for Lent lost 44 pounds and claims he’s never felt better in his life.
43-year-old Army Veteran Del Hall says that he was inspired by 17th-Century Bavarian monks, who would spend all 46 days of Lent without eating, and limiting their caloric intake to a hearty beer known as a doppelbeck. He drank between two and five such beers a day.
Hall, who works at a craft brewery, says that he lost his “addiction to food” after the first week, and says that his health is better, his blood pressure and cholesterol levels have improved, his mind is clearer and he needs less sleep.
I’ll drink to that.
