Last December, I blogged about the remarkable charitable giving endeavors of Mackenzie Scott, Jeff Bezos’s ex-wife. In that blog (which you can read here), I mentioned that Scott — the third wealthiest woman in the world due in large measure to the $38 billion she received in her divorce settlement — had given away some $4.2 billion to 384 different organizations in the previous four months.  $9 million of that went to one of my favorite charities, the Vermont Food Bank.

Scott is not finished. Not by a long shot.

Scott, who has promised to give away her billions “until the safe is empty,” recently announced in a blog post (which you can see here) another round of gifts totaling $2.74 billion to 286 high-impact organizations which are, in her words, “in categories and communities that have been historically underfunded and overlooked.”

Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos plans on taking an 11-minute ride into space next month. I don’t know what it cost him to build the New Shepard rocket that he’ll be flying in, but an auction winner paid $28 million to go along for the ride.
