President-elect Biden has said that wearing a mask during the pandemic is patriotic. Apparently, some legislators in New Hampshire haven’t gotten the message

According to this article in the Manchester Union-Leader (which is behind a paywall), at least 61 members of the New Hampshire House of Representatives showed up at an “Organization Day” gathering on the University of New Hampshire lacrosse field in December without masks. This despite the fact that:

– Governor Sununu (a fellow Republican) issued an executive order which required them to wear masks;

– The Town of Durham, where the gathering was being held, has an ordinance in effect requiring masks;

– The University of New Hampshire has a mask-wearing policy in effect; and

– The representatives take an oath that they will “bear faith and true allegiance to the United States of America and the state of New Hampshire, and will support the constitution thereof.”

Three of the representatives — including the second-ranking Republican — subsequently tested positive for COVID, and the Speaker of the House, himself a Republican, who actually wore a mask, DIED of the coronovirus a week later.

My nephew just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq with the 82nd Airborne Division, where he lived in a tent while the daytime temperature sometimes reached 130 degrees.  And you can’t wear a mask??
